Petar Chobanov
Petar Chobanov is the Deputy Governor in charge of the Banking Department and a Member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank. He holds a masters degree in macroeconomics and a PhD in finance, money circulation, credit, and insurance. His qualifications include: Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy, IMF and Joint Vienna Institute;
Monetary and Financial Stability Policies, International Monetary Fund; International Visitor Leadership Program: "The US Financial System and the Global Economy," U.S. Department of State. His career began as a chief expert analyst at the Bulgarian National Bank. In 2005, he became the executive director of the agency for economic analysis and forecasting. Four years later, he was appointed chairman of the Financial Supervision Commission. From 2013 to 2014, he served as Minister of Finance. After that, he became a member of the committee on budget and finance and the Committee on Education and Science. Since 2013, he has been an associate professor teaching international finance.
